Run by the community, for the community
The Wawanesa Rink was built in 1975 and has grown into an important part of the Wawanesa community and the Municipality of Oakland/Wawanesa. It's run by a small team of dedicated volunteers and boasts four sheets of artificial curling ice, hockey rink with artificial ice, event rentals and hosts a number of local leagues and teams.
"Present manager Brent Cullen has been an absolute gem for the Wawanesa and Recreation Center. The fact that the facility runs successfully “in the black” all the while accomplishing many upgrades is amazing to everyone. Successful grant applications, good short and long term planning and day to day maintenance is paying off. All the staff at the rink need to be commended. They work hard with bare bone numbers to keep expenses down and our rink clean and well cared for."
